Standing Outside the Fire

Okay, I don't have a food journal to share today.  I had a crazy but wonderful weekend.  We got some new furniture from IKEA so of course it had to be put together and we hauled away a bunch of junk that was getting to be an eye sore.  I feel happy about that   I did eat hamburgers from Taylors and pizza this weekend sooooo......

I don't feel bad about it though.  I was actually very surprised about how much my pants were falling down during the endless running we did at camp today.

Jeff likes to refer to it as the 10% rule.  If we eat the way we are supposed to 90% of the time we have room for 10% of whatever food. Now he won't get into to much of the emotion side of that, but I will.  I used to feel bad when I would eat whatever my heart desired but I don't now because I know that 90% of the time I am eating the way I should and I usually have the documentation to shoe for it!

I really wanted to talk about goals again just briefly.  I only see one comment posted from the other day and I really want to know what is it that you want to accomplish over the next 12 weeks.  There must be something, do you want to run faster (how much faster) do you want to use larger weights (if so what size) do you want to perform your push ups from your toes, do you want to be able to run the mile without walking?  There must be something that burns inside of you.

I have to say that I think one of the reason I have been successful with the boot camp program is because the number one reason hasn't always been weight loss or fat loss.  That is like the icing on the cake.  It really started out with me just wanting to improve my overall health, I was fat and getting fatter and I sat all day long at a desk which made my neck and back a mess.  I was tired and didn't feel good about myself.  Boot camp made my neck and my back feel better, I felt stronger and I loved coming to camp to see what else I could achieve.

Now I really have a burning desire to be very fit.  I would love to be able to do some of the stuff that Jeff does and I get closer and closer (by inches) each camp but I know that setting goals keeps my fire burning and by sharing it with everyone I am accountable for it!

I have this program that I have been listening to lately called the Magic 100 - really good stuff.  I got an email today and Dax Moy the author quoted the old Garth Brooks song.

Here is what he said "what is it that stops us from reaching our goals?

I think it's because we're scared of getting 'burned' by failure or defeat. Scared of somehow 'failing' in the eyes of ourselves and others and scared that if we do, we've used up our last try, our last 'go' at life.

But then I remembered a song that said 'Life is not tried, it's merely survived if you're standing outside the fire' and it reminded me that, well, we've already failed if we don't have a go."

And then he went on to share a Garth Brooks video.  You can watch it here: http://www.vidilife.com/index.cfm?f=media.play&vchrMediaProgramIDCryp=1D6C9614-54DE-4C33-823C-C

Now I have never been a big country music listener before so I can't say that I ever saw this video before but of course it made me cry and makes me want to work even that much harder to reach my goals, but I want all of you to reach your goals to...........so what are they?

My goals are to press a 36 kg kettlebell by Jan. 1st, and perform a pull up with the same kettlebell around waist, pass the USSS Snatch Test, get back to 10% or under body fat by Jan. 1st.
