Don't Take My Word For It....

Don't Take My Word For It...

So I mentioned early this week that we would have a guest journal on the blog!  One of our boot campers Michelle Johnson, (9am Napa) needs no introduction to some because we have witnessed the fabulous changes she has made right before our eyes.  But for those of you that don't share the 9 am hour with her everyday I did a brief interview with her below and she submitted proof of her food journal that she does eat, ALOT

ABC: Michelle please tell everyone about yourself.

MJ:  I am 38, Owner Luxe Skin Spa, wife and mother of 10 year old and 7 year old girls.

ABC: What pushed you to originally sign up to do Adventure Boot Camp?

MJ: I was getting close to 40 and knew if I didn’t get into shape it was only going to get harder.  I had tried many different ways to lose weight and didn’t have the success I had hoped for. I didn’t have the energy to do it on my own and I heard about how dedicated Jeff was, so I decided to give it a try.

ABC: How did you feel about your body and fitness level when you started?

MJ: I was totally out of shape and not happy with my body.

ABC: What were some of the challenges you had to overcome when you started camp?

MJ:  I was very sore so I would get massage every other week and would listen to Jeff about how to stay pain free. It wasn’t until later that I got a stretch band and foam roller.

Nutrition was also a major challenge at first since I only ate once a day back then and lived on energy drinks and coffee.  So I started Isagenix with a 9-day cleanse program then continued with the 30-day program.  I also, incorporated the nutrition information provided by Isagenix into my daily nutritional needs and I have followed all of the guidance that Jeff has given me, even when I thought it was crazy to eat more!

ABC: After a whole year of Adventure Boot Camp how do you stay so motivated with your nutrition and fitness?

MJ: Results motivate me!  I get measured every 5 weeks and set new goals for myself.  Whether it be increasing my dumbbell weight in class or adjusting my caloric intake.

ABC: In one year, tell us what you have accomplished?

MJ:

1-I have reduced my body fat by 18%
2-I have gone from a size 18/20 to a size 6
3-I have lost over 60 pounds
4-Started with a 11:59 timed mile and a :28 second plank and I am now at a 7:04 timed mile and  4:35 plank

ABC: What are your plans for the future, with regards to fitness and nutrition?

MJ: It is a lifestyle now, there is no question that I am never going back to where I was.  I keep journaling and continue to workout at bootcamp 5 days per week. I still have some body fat to lose. And I have a new love, kettlebells.  I will be taking the RKC Challenge in February 09

ABC:  If you could give 3 tips to everyone for success what would they be?

MJ:

1.)    Be consistent in coming to class

2.)    When you want to give up because it is uncomfortable you just don’t give up

3.)    Eat the recommended calories…don’t starve your body.

Thanks to Michelle for taking the time to share her thoughts and her food journal with us!

Don't forget to turn in your journals tonight!  Keep it up over the weekend!
