How Can I Hold On To My Fat??

Yes you heard me correctly.  How can I stay fat?  It is super easy.............

Do you ever skip breakfast?  I mean, I have been there back in the ol' days when my children were 1 and 2 years old and I had a full time job and so did Jeff and I had to get everyone up, get them ready, deliver the oldest to school, deliver one child to a daycare and deliver one child to my mother in laws.  Oh yeah and I had to some how get myself ready and end up at work without looking like a complete train wreck...........time for breakfast? NOPE.  Pack a semi-decent lunch?  NOPE.

At that time I had a VERY stressful job, it was constantly all day one thing after the other and usually I wouldn't find time to eat until 2 or 3 in the afternoon.  By that time I would eat the first thing that ended up in front of me like a donut from the main office washed down with some nutritious coffee or a very fast meal from the nearest fast food restaurant.

This pattern went of for a couple of years, not everyday, some days I would actually grab something like a yogurt on the way out the door.......hhhmmmmm no wonder that pregnancy weight didn't just magically disappear.

I think Jeff probably explained to me a million times how the whole nutrition thing worked because he has always been a walking specimen of health, but not with out being diligent with his nutrition and exercise.  He has always been super dedicated and I have to give credit where it is due.

Here is how it goes.  When you wake up in the morning let's say around 6:30 am, you probably haven't eaten for approximately 10 to 12 hours.  When you start your day the little operators in your body call over the loud speaker, okay she's up and she's moving and we should be getting some fuel any minute to 'break' the 'fast' we have been under all night while systems were shut down.  So operators sit and wait.... but not for very long.  As soon as they realize that you are up and moving and have NOT given them fuel to operate the very basic systems like walking, talking, thinking, etc.  they call our over the loud speaker 'okay systems, it looks like she isn't going to feed us, ALERT, ALERT, she is not going to feed us.  All systems begin to store fat because we may be going in to starvation mode.  I repeat do not burn any more fat we need to save it because she isn't going to eat."

So you have skipped the breakfast, the fat burning has stopped and fat storage has begun and you still haven't eaten because you are too busy  so the operators are super smart (your body is way smarter than you) they realize that now it is around 12 noon and you haven't eaten in about 15 to 18 hours (because the last meal you ate was dinner the night before) so the operators call out over the loud speaker:  "All systems, we are officially starving.... she has not fed us and we have no way to continue functioning, we need fuel.  Begin muscle burning.  I repeat- begin muscle burning."  See your body has no other choice but to start burning something because you haven't given it any fuel.  So muscle is there and ready to do the job.

So finally you have gotten to some food and you eat it and by this time you are not interested in a 'small meal' you are hungry - it is time to EAT!  So you consume probably more than you should and the operators get on the loud speaker again and say: "Attention - she is feeding us, thank goodness, use what you need for fuel right now. And the systems take what it needs (which isn't much) and use it for fuel BUT more food is still coming so the operator says "To much fuel, to much fuel, store the rest, store the rest.  (Storage is bad by the way)

So you now are full but feel bad because you overindulged

So by going all those hours without eating you managed to turn off the fat burning, store the fat, burn muscle and then finally feed yourself only to feed yourself too much and end up storing more fat.

So I finally got it!  If I eat right when I get up and then small meals every 2 to 3 hours after that all day............then my body does what it is supposed to and I start to realize the benefits of that by the size of my clothing going down, down, down.

You non-breakfast eaters aren't the only ones that experience this fat storing phenomenon.... it is also those of you that eat lunch and then decide not to eat ANYTHING until 6 or 7 pm when you start making dinner and then eat almost everything you are preparing while you are preparing it because you are starved because you haven't eaten in 6 or so hours.

So now you know how to hold on to the fat..........but why would you want to do that?  We are all trying to get rid of it right?  So do the opposite, eat every 2 to 3 hours.  Divide your total daily calories by six (small meals) and stick to that.  Journaling helps.....speaking of journaling here is a new one:
